St Leonhard
St Leonard of Limoges is an important patron saint in the Catholic Church, especially in rural areas. His veneration is closely linked to agriculture and is based on legends and miracles. Leonhard was born in Limoges, France, in the 6th century. He came from a noble family and dedicated his life to the worship of God. The agricultural veneration of Leonhard resulted from legends such as the rescue of a drowning ox. This miracle led to farmers and cattle breeders asking Leonhard for help and protection for their animals. There are chapels and churches dedicated to the saint, especially in southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Processions and celebrations are traditionally held here to ask for blessings for livestock, the harvest and the fertility of the fields. Saint Leonard of Limoges thus symbolises the close connection between faith and rural life. Through his intercession, believers hope for a successful harvest and the protection of their animals from disease and accidents. For this reason, St Leonard has always been an important religious figure for the Fischhorn estate.
History
The Fischhorn estate in Bruck looks back on an impressive history and is now recognised as an organic farm far beyond the region. Fischhorn has been a recognised organic farm since 1997 and has since built up an excellent reputation for sustainable farming and high-quality produce.
The history of Gutsverwaltung Fischhorn is characterised by hard work, the use of state-of-the-art technology and the preservation of traditional values. This combination has earned the farm numerous awards that testify to the outstanding quality of its products. These include the gold medal at the Bundesfleckviehschau at the Rieder Messe in 2001 and the silver state honour award, also at the Bundesfleckviehschau in Ried, in 2005.
The success story of Gutsverwaltung Fischhorn is based on the commitment and passion of the people who work here. They have managed to combine the long-standing tradition of agriculture in Bruck with the requirements of modern, ecologically orientated farming. This has enabled the farm not only to retain its historical character, but also to act in a future-orientated manner and become a role model for other farms.
